What should I wear to the appointment?

Clothing Choice: Wear comfortable and appropriate clothing to your appointment, keeping in mind the location of your tattoo. here are some examples:

  1. Arms: Loose-fitting, breathable clothing such as short-sleeve shirts or tank tops are ideal for arm tattoos. Avoid tight sleeves that may rub against the tattooed area.
  2. Chest: Opt for loose-fitting shirts made of soft, breathable fabric to prevent rubbing and irritation. Button-down shirts or loose-fitting tank tops are good choices.
  3. Upper Back: Wear loose-fitting tops that won't rub against the tattooed area. T-shirts or loose tank tops are suitable options.
  4. Spine: Choose clothing that won't press against the spine area, as this can cause discomfort and interfere with the healing process. Loose-fitting tops with open backs or low-cut designs can be comfortable. Ideally a zipped jumper that can be worn backwards during the session.
  5. Lower Back: Similar to the upper back, wear loose-fitting clothing that won't rub against the tattooed area. Low-rise pants or skirts with a soft waistband are good choices.
  6. Sternum: Opt for tops with a loose neckline that won't press against the sternum area. V-neck or scoop-neck tops are suitable options. Zipped Jumpers are also a good idea.
  7. Ribs: Wear loose-fitting tops that won't press against the rib area. Avoid tight bras or tops with underwire that may cause discomfort.
  8. Hips: Choose bottoms with a soft, comfortable waistband that won't rub against the hip tattoos. Low-rise trousers or skirts are good options.
  9. Thighs: Wear loose-fitting bottoms such as shorts or skirts that won't rub against the tattooed area. Avoid tight leggings or jeans that may cause friction.
  10. Calves: Opt for loose-fitting trousers or shorts that won't press against the calf tattoos. Avoid socks or tight leggings that may cause irritation.
  11. Ankles: Wear loose-fitting socks or trousers that won't rub against the ankle tattoos. Avoid tight socks or shoes that may cause friction.

How painful is getting a tattoo? Can I use numbing cream?

Some areas hurt more than others and it’s different for each client depending on where they are more sensitive so it’s hard to gauge as many peoples pain tolerances are different. Some people say it’s like a quick cat scratch, others say it’s more like a sunburn.

A lot of clients ask about numbing creams. Their are a lot of creams on the market.

One thing to consider is a lot of these creams wear off during the tattoo and then it can feel more sensitive than it would have without the cream. Some creams you can order online and you can get from your nearest pharmacy.

If you are thinking about using a cream please let me know, you will need to do a patch test before the appointment.
